The Good News
THE GOOD NEWS
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the "Good News" that God, in His great love and mercy, provided a way for humanity to be reconciled to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Problem of Sin:
All people have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), which means not only physical death but eternal separation from God.
God’s Love and Solution:
Despite our sin, God’s love for humanity was so great that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world (John 3:16). Jesus was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23), fully God and fully man, and lived a perfect, sinless life (Hebrews 4:15). He willingly died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins, so that we could be forgiven and made right with God (Isaiah 53:5-6, 1 Peter 2:24). On the third day, He rose again, defeating sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The Call to Repentance and Faith:
Jesus’ sacrifice offers us salvation, but it requires a response. Jesus calls everyone to repent—turn away from their sins—and believe in the Gospel (Mark 1:15). To be saved, we must confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10).
Salvation by Grace through Faith:
Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, not something we can earn through our works (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are justified by faith in Jesus Christ alone (Romans 5:1). By faith, we receive forgiveness and are given the gift of eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 6:23).
New Life in Christ:
When we trust in Jesus, we are born again (John 3:3) and become new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Holy Spirit indwells believers, empowering them to live godly lives, grow in holiness, and walk in obedience to Christ (Galatians 5:22-23, Romans 8:1-2).
Eternal Life and Hope:
Those who trust in Jesus are given eternal life and will spend eternity with God (John 10:28-29). Jesus promises to return one day, and He will judge the living and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1), making all things new and establishing His Kingdom forever (Revelation 21:1-5).
